A determining factor in a country’s development towards a social and productive future is, undoubtedly, the road infrastructure framework crossing its territory and the existence of a transport network which fulfils its service: moving people and merchandise, bringing towns closer together and, in short, seeking the best balance and territorial distribution with equality of development opportunity for all communities.

The need for high performance infrastructure crossing the country’s defining morphological features has led naturally to the construction of tunnels for trunk roads and high speed railways. In parallel, the construction of metro lines and urban tunnels to meet the mobility needs of large cities has arisen.

In this context, la Asociación Española de Túneles y Obras Subterráneas (AETOS) decided to start a Masters Degree aimed at training specialists in tunnels to meet the growing demand for this type of expert, both from consulting and design companies and from construction companies.
